Rembrandt van Rijn - famous paintings

Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669), was a Dutch painter, draftsman and graphic designer. Representative of Flemish style of painting. He is considered to be one of the greatest artists in Europe and in the whole world. He specialized in painting religious, mythological, historical paintings and portraits too. Particularly famous are his autoportraits, Rembrandt painted them with the great passion for the whole his life. Depth of colours, chiaroscuro effects, note of mystery, these are only some of the advantages of paintings created by this superb artist. To the most famous works of Rembrandt belong: 'Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp', 'The Return of the Prodigal Son', 'Night watch' or 'The girl in a picture frame'.
