Frederic Leighton - famous paintings

Frederic Leighton (1830-1896), was an English painter and sculptor, representative of the Victorian Classicism. In his creations he derived from biblical and mithological motifs, he painted historical and allegorical pictures. For a time he was related to Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood which postulated to revive art and to break with Academism which did not prevent Leighton, however, from being a leader of Royal Academy of Fine Arts from 1878. To his most famous paintings belong 'Icarus and Daedalus' and 'Flaming June'.
