El Greco - famous paintings

Dominikos Theotokopulos, also known as El Greco (1541– 1614), he was born in Greece, he spent many years in Wenece and in Rome where he learned from Italian masters of painting, after that he settled down in Toledo, Spain. Paintings by this author do not imitate the reality, they convert it, characters from his creations are elongated, luminous and soulful, many of El Greco works implement religious coverage of contrreformation. Today he is considered to be one of the most prominent representatives of Baroque and Mannerism but in the 19th century untypical coloring and impaired balance were attributed to the astigmatism or madness of the painter.
