Eugène Henri Paul Gauguin (1848-1903), was a French painter. Works of Gauguin reflected Symbolism and also made way for Expressionism. In his paintings we can see a simplified form of people and objects. Gauguin also simplified colours that are diverse in nature by action of light and shadow. His painting was open to influences from different directions – contemporary works from his era and above all from vanishing arts and exotic cultures.
