Alfred Sisley (1839-1899), was a French, impressionist painter, one of the most outstanding landscape painters of the second half of the 19th century. He kept himself away from busy streets of Paris. His paintings were created in the provinces – majority of his works of art depict areas and small towns around Paris . Autumn and winter landscapes were his favorite motifs. Landscapes painted by Sisley are considered to be one of the most lyrical and harmonic works of art of the impressionistic movement. The artist was little known during his lifetime, his paintings became popular only after his death.
