Alfons Mucha (1860-1939), was a Czech artist, one of the leading representatives of Art Nouveau. Majority of his works was created during Parisian period of his artistic activity. Works by Mucha of decorative and utilitarian (advertising and theatrical posters, calendars, menus, magazines covers, postcards) character are particulary known all over the world. Style of Mucha is identified with Art Nouveau. His paintings, works and drawings include infallibly recognisable elements: flowers, ornaments, decorations, decorative lines, idealized images of beatiful woman, numerous symbols and arabesques. In the later period of his artistic activity Mucha was creating works depicting the most important events from the history of his nation.
